Here are some frequently asked questions:-

GENERAL FAQs

I SHOULD READ THIS NEXT SECTION BEFORE I THINK ABOUT READING FURTHER OR ENQUIRING!!

I feel that it is only fair to say that my photography is natural and candid and geared up to stress and fuss-free wedding day. If you are of a personality that is not of the nature of someone who will fully embrace and enjoy their wedding day and go with the flow and make the most of it you should not book me as I am really laid back and relaxed and this may upset someone who is regimental or uptight. You need to trust that I will do what I say and you will receive the amazing photographs you see on my website and social media. If you are happy to let me do my thing and if you and your guests are truly enjoying your wedding, my photos will capture that but in reality, I can only document what happens and not try to force or contrive things.

PRICING?

Should it be a case of how much are you before you see or like what I do then please save yourself time and don't read any further. Your wedding day is a one-off event and you should INVEST whatever your budget allows so you can book the photographer you love and the photos of your dreams. Are your lifetimes' memories really worth the same or less than the cost of a car package or a boat trip? Don't ask someone to re-create another photographer as you won't be happy - choose that photographer instead as he/she will be worth that money to you in hindsight - I guarantee it!

If you like what I do and think I am the person and style for you please get in touch as I will do everything I can to meet your budget and requirements.

My pricing remains the same for everyone so everything I do is fair and you pay the same as someone else would for the same coverage or package. I OFFER A PRICE MATCH POLICY FOR A SIMILAR STANDARD PHOTOGRAPHER OFFERING A SIMILAR COVERAGE OR PACKAGE - PLEASE ASK FOR DETAILS.

However, if you book 1 calendar year before your wedding I offer a 5% discount (as this helps me plan my itinerary and saves me money on travel, advertising, accommodation for example).

If you book and pay the FULL BALANCE upon booking I offer  7% discount (this helps my cash flow especially in the winter months).

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?

My style and personality are set up to be a documentary wedding photographer. My style is candid, informal and natural wedding photography. When you book me I will photograph your day in an informal and unobtrusive manner capturing those special and beautiful moments that occur naturally.

I would say my style is geared up to 70% natural and 30% formal as I know from experience that there are group shots and other shots that we may need to be more formal with in order to provide a comprehensive record of your wedding day.

WHY ARE YOU DIFFERENT TO OTHER WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS?

My creativity, passion and customer service stand me out from other photographers. Everything that I do is as personal to me as it is to you and I go the extra mile to achieve your requirements.  Unlike other photographers or agencies, I do not cram in jobs or conveyor belt your wedding, so I arrive fresh and in a good frame of mind for your big day. From your initial enquiry to receiving your photographs, everything is done by myself so what you see on my website and social media is exactly what you will receive afterwards. I am meticulous in my work and planning and my mind is free and open to your ideas.

WHAT KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHS WILL WE RECEIVE?

All of your wedding photographs will be delivered to you via USB so can be viewed on any smart TV or PC. You will also receive a secure password protected web gallery which stays online for 18 months enabling you and your family and friends worldwide to view and enjoy your wedding photographs. When I have finished editing the photographs I will place them, and the black and white and other versions on a cloud service for you to view, suggest any edits, crops, request more black and whites etc. Once you are happy you are free to download the finished full resolution versions instantly or you can wait a few days for your USB to arrive whilst still viewing them on your private gallery.  Although I retain full worldwide copyright you have full usage rights and can use and print your photos for personal use only.

WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOU HAVE NOT PHOTOGRAPHED AT OUR VENUE OR LOCATION BEFORE?

As a documentary wedding photographer, my primary goal is to record your wedding naturally as it happens. As you can see from my website and social media I have been photographing weddings around Yorkshire and the UK for 2 decades, with over a decade of this also photographing weddings throughout Europe, predominantly Italy, Cyprus, and Malta.

For weddings in the Yorkshire/North Lincs, North Notts, North Derbyshire region I will have met you at your venue for my initial appointment and then also met you at your venue a month beforehand for a free pre-wedding shoot so I will have had a look around for the opportunities and also liaised with the wedding coordinator for the house rules and inside knowledge as to the best areas in and outside the venue.

For Weddings elsewhere in the UK, I will have met you a month beforehand to do a free pre-wedding shoot and as above I will have fully researched and had a good look around and a chat to the staff/coordinator too.

For Weddings abroad, I have much experience with travelling and planning so I always arrive at least 1 and a half days at your location IF I HAVE BEEN THERE AND KNOW IT WELL. If it is a new location I will ALWAYS arrive a minimum of 2 and a half days early so I have lots of time to explore, plan and research the location, best spots, and scenery.  Usually, I have your pre-wedding meeting/shoot the day before your wedding and then I have seen the venue and we can discuss ideas, shot list and timings.

I AM METICULOUS AND LEAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO CHANCE

DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS?

Yes. I love to travel and will go anywhere in Europe to document your wedding.

WHY NOT JUST BOOK A PHOTOGRAPHER IN THE LOCATION OF MY WEDDING?

When you invite a wedding photographer from outside of your area to photograph your wedding you are bringing someone who will be just as inspired and awestruck of your location as you are. They will be falling in love and ready to create one of a kind images from the beauty that they are possibly seeing for the first time. This will result in you having images of this spectacular place from a fresh perspective, not the same exact locations and poses that the resort photographer takes every couple to when they get married. You want your wedding images to stand out because you've decided to go the extra mile in making your wedding day stand out as one of the most important days of your life, bringing a wedding photographer who is eager to create beautiful images. Bringing in someone from outside will prevent the same old tired ideas and images from your wedding venue. This opens up so many possibilities whereas a local photographer would typically have a certain style and one you would be forced to accept even if it's not the style that rocks your boat.

As a professional destination wedding photographer, I will work with you by researching your destination wedding location and providing you options for breathtaking views and photo ops off the beaten path. By going the extra mile for you, scouting the location for you and working with you to create a plan before the day of your wedding, you can rest assured you will receive the images you always dreamed of and that you can be sure to love. Booking me to photograph your wedding wherever it is means I am flexible and up for anything.

I probably will cost the same or less as your local or resort photographer! Yes, this is true you did read that correctly. In the UK I will price match a local photographer of a similar standard upon proof of a valid quote. Outside of the UK, lots of photographers work for agencies or resorts and have vested interests or have to pay commission and are tied to what the agent/resort says. I AM FREE AND INDEPENDENT! I work for you and you only, no nasty surprises and a guarantee that what you see here is what you will receive when your wedding photographs are delivered to you.

WHAT IF YOU DON'T GET TO MY WEDDING IN TIME?

This will never happen. Read above for my meticulous planning but as I only take 25-30 bookings per year I plan my diary to ensure that I have plenty of time to get to your wedding so for a destination wedding I will generally arrive 2 or 3 days beforehand (I also have regular bases where I stay in Lake Garda, Sorrento, Bugibba in Malta and Paphos in Cyprus too and have been staying for years). For a UK wedding, I will get there at around 3 pm the day beforehand to be on hand for any last minute queries or advice. For local Yorkshire weddings, I am within an hour drive of you anyway when I am back in the UK.

HOW DO YOUR TRAVEL AND SCHEDULE AFFECT MY WEDDING?

The earlier you book, the earlier I can plan my itinerary. When I am working ANYWHERE I never take too many bookings at any time as I need time not just to travel, but also edit your wedding.  For all of my weddings, I will not take on any more than 2 in any week and ALWAYS leave 5 days clear between weddings if I have to travel from one to another. This gives me plenty of time to relax, work, travel and also to enjoy what I do!

ARE YOU FULLY INSURED?

Yes...I have equipment, public liability, and professional indemnity insurance. I take every precaution to ensure images are backed up both where I work and on a secure cloud with SmugMug/Dropbox

BEFORE YOUR WEDDING

CAN WE MEET YOU BEFORE OUR WEDDING?

For weddings in Yorkshire and my region, I will have met you for an initial consultation and then 1 month beforehand for a pre-wedding meeting/shoot.

For weddings elsewhere in the UK, I will have met you 1 month beforehand for a pre-wedding meeting/shoot and then will arrive 1 day early and stay overnight in a local hotel/guesthouse/B&B so I am fresh and am there early for your wedding day.

For Weddings in Europe, I will generally meet you 1 or 2 days before your wedding.

I am always available by prior appointment to video chat via Skype/WhatsApp, Messenger or can be contacted by email, Instagram or Facebook where I normally respond within 24 hours.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO GET IN TOUCH?

Send me an email via my say hello page (click the contact link) and I'll get right back to you or alternatively click the social media icons to go to my Insta or Facebook pages where you can also see my contact details (telephone, email or message me via the app).

I do not display my contact details on my website as the web bots pick this up and inundate me with unwanted emails, sales calls, spam, and fraud.

HOW DO WE BOOK?

Your date is secured upon the signing of a contract (done online) and receipt of a non-refundable booking fee of £250. I generally hold your enquiry date for 7 days to give you time to look at my pricing and what I can offer you and compare it to other quotes.

You can complete my contact form or navigate to my social media pages where my email and telephone number are available. The remainder of the balance is due 28 days before the wedding date. My advice to a couple planning their big day is once you have chosen a photographer you like the look and style of book them. As a photographer, I can only do one wedding on a specific date whereas other suppliers such as dresses, flowers, cake, cars, decorations etc can supply many weddings on one particular day.

I would love to be your photographer so please contact me to check my availability

DO I NEED TO BOOK YOUR FLIGHTS OR ACCOMMODATION?

No. I book my own flights as soon as you are booked in (unless I am already in the resort at the time of your wedding) as I like to get the best deal and use my benefits and miles and I also book my own accommodation and transfers/car hire.  Also for many years I have been travelling around Europe and have regular bases in Lake Garda, Sorrento, Malta, and Cyprus too with lots of friends and professional contacts in each area which makes life easier!

ON THE DAY

HOW LONG DO YOU WORK ON THE WEDDING DAY?

Typically I will arrive around 1 hour before my agreed start time to get ready and have a drink and prepare myself and my equipment.  We will finalise my coverage time at your pre-wedding meeting.

DO YOU USE AN ASSISTANT OR SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?

I usually photograph weddings alone for around 100 guests or less, but for the larger weddings, I can supply an assistant if required. Please ask for details.

DO YOU NEED FEEDING AT A WEDDING?

I am more than happy to bring along my own lunch but if there is a spare main course or a sandwich and a cup of tea available for me on your wedding day then I would greatly appreciate it!

WHAT IF IT’S RAINING ON THE DAY?

I always bring along plenty of lighting equipment, so if it’s really bad outside we can find a  place use inside. At some point during the day there may be a break in the rain though, so if an opportunity presents itself we will venture outside for photos.

DO YOU HAVE BACKUP EQUIPMENT?

I always have additional cameras and lenses, along with extra batteries, memory cards, lighting gear, and anything else I think might come in handy on your wedding day.

AFTER YOUR WEDDING

WHEN WILL WE SEE OUR PHOTOGRAPHS?

I endeavour to have the storyboard/proofs online in just four weeks, and the full wedding completed and received by you in six weeks. I will let you know when I start editing your wedding and give an ETA.

I know you are eager to see the photographs from your wedding day as soon as possible but I am a working photographer and will personally edit EVERY photo you receive. I limit myself to 25-30 weddings per year in order to get a balance of business and a good turnaround.  I also offer a fast track service for a 2-week turnaround which involves me sending the photos to an external party to do the basics on before I finish them off myself so please ask about the price of this should you require it.

DO YOU OFFER ALBUMS AND PRINTS?

Yes.  I offer options including an album or offer albums afterwards and use only the best supplier. You select the photos, I design the layout, you proof it online, and it then goes to print so its an easy process and I have lots of albums to choose from. You can order print packs through your private online gallery.
